Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly how we handle your data.

Last updated: January 1, 2025

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, password, and profile information such as skills, location, bio, and portfolio content. If you're a professional, we may also collect verification documents such as government-issued ID and proof of skill or certification.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use our platform, we automatically collect device information (browser type, operating system, IP address), usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent), and cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain session state and improve your experience.

Information from Third Parties

If you sign in via Google or another third-party provider, we receive basic profile information from that provider as permitted by your privacy settings with them.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: create and manage your account; match you with relevant professionals or projects; process payments and transactions; send you important service notifications and updates; improve our platform through analytics and research; prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; comply with legal obligations under Nigerian and applicable international law.

3. How We Share Your Information

With Other Users

Your public profile (name, skills, location, portfolio, ratings) is visible to other users. Private information such as your phone number and email is only shared when you choose to initiate contact or accept a job.

With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party providers that help us operate the platform — including Firebase (Google) for authentication and database, payment processors, and analytics providers. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority in Nigeria or other applicable jurisdictions.

We Never Sell Your Data

UNI-T does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which employs industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest). We implement access controls, monitoring, and regular security reviews. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your credentials private.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your account and associated data; opt out of non-essential communications; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@unitinnovative.com. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain session security, as well as analytics cookies (via Google Analytics) to understand how users interact with our platform. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the platform.

7. Children's Privacy

UNI-T is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will promptly delete their information. If you believe a minor has provided us with their data, contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on our platform. Continued use of UNI-T after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
